This organization recycles by sharing via neighbor to neighbor! This is an online email based organization for Ann Arbor and all surrounding communities which allows you to offer or ask for free items. Membership is free and there are currently over 4,000 members.

Ann Arbor Solid Waste Department

Call 994-2807 to arrange collection service; call 971-7400 to arrange drop-off service. Collection of appliances requires a fee paid by check or cash in advance. Collection fees begin at $30.00 Items must be curbside by 7 a.m. the day of pick-up.

Arbor Vacuum and Small Appliance

For repair service only: 1226 Packard Rd., Ann Arbor 761-3677 Hours: Mon.-Fri. 9-6, Sat. 9-5 Accepts the following items for repair only: lamps, vacuums, sewing machines, fans, heaters, humidifiers and other small appliances. No microwaves or electronic stereo equipment.

City of Ann Arbor – Drop off Station

2950 East Ellsworth Rd., Ann Arbor 971-7400 Mon.-Sat. 9-5 Accepts non-Freon metal appliances in any condition. $5.00 charge per item.

Domestic Violence Project/Safe House

4100 Clark Rd., Ann Arbor 995-5444 Hours: Mon.-Fri. 8-5. Occasionally accepts small appliances and a variety of other kitchen items (dishes, cups, pots & pans). Due to limited space, call first to arrange pick-up of larger items or to drop off items.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

201 N. River Blvd., Ypsilanti 482-7121 Hours: Mon.-Fri. 9-12 & 1-4 Accepts household items and small appliances in working condition but no furniture. Call first to arrange drop-off.

Faith in Action Inc.

Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor

Master Tech

Military Order of Purple Heart

Recycle Ann Arbor-Reuse Center

2420 S. Industrial, Ann Arbor 662-6288 Store Hours: Mon.-Fri. 10-6, Sat. 9-5 Donations accepted until 4:00 p.m. Accepts household and kitchen appliances less than 10 years old and in working condition.

Salvation Army

St. Vincent DePaul Thrift

Thrift Shop Association of Ann Arbor

Town and Country

3127 S. Wagner Rd., Ann Arbor 662-4485 Hours: Mon.-Fri. 8:30-5:00; Accepts any size appliances for metal extraction and recycling. There is a $25 fee for any Freon appliance.

Treasure Mart

529 Detroit St., Ann Arbor 662-9887. Drop off hours: Mon-Sat 9-3:30 Store hours: Mon-Sat 9-5. Call to arrange for pick-up service; $30.00 truck fee. Sells used/small appliances on consignment only. $10.00 membership fee. Call for additional information.

Washtenaw County Dept. of Social Services

22 Center St., Ypsilanti 481-8396 Hours: Mon-Fri 8-5 Call to arrange for collection service. Accepts large appliances such as washers, dryers and stoves. No small appliances are accepted.

Ypsilanti Thrift Shop

14 S. Washington St., Ypsilanti 483-1226 Hours: Mon-Fri 10-3:45 Accepts clean clothing, kitchen items and small appliances in working order.

Ypsilanti Township Compost Center

2600 East Clark Rd., Ypsilanti 482-6681 April - November Hours: Mon. - Fri. 9-5, Sat. 9-4 / December - March Hours: Saturday Only 9-4. Accepts appliances, antifreeze, oil and oil filters, scrap metal, yard waste and refuse (furniture, mattresses, drywall, shingles, landscaping timber, lumber, carpet and stumps>1 ft. in diameter.) Finished compost and woodchips are also available. Please call the compost site for additional information and fee schedule. The compost site does not accept hazardous waste.
