The Ypsilanti Township Parks System consists of thirty (30) parks & recreation facilities totaling over 890 acres. The parks range in size from 0.3 acres to 190 acres and provide wonderful areas for informal play, organized programs, or to enjoy nature. Many of our Neighborhood Parks have recently been renovated with new park equipment, plat structures and additional landscaping. Our larger Community Parks provide enhanced facilities including picnic shelters, boardwalks, access to canoeing, boating and fishing, wooded areas, ample parking and restroom facilities. In addition, the Township has been developing a bikeway/trail system throughout the Township.
Ford Lake Park System...
Often considered the jewel of Ypsilanti Township, the Ford Lake Park System consists of six parks: Ford Lake, Loonfeather Point, North Bay, South Hydro, North Hydro and Lakeside Parks. These community parks surround beautiful Ford Lake and provide enhanced services and facilities. Ford Lake, Loonfeather Point, North Bay and North Hydro Parks are normally staffed mid-May through Labor Day with Park Attendants. We also have Park Rangers on duty during the park season that patrols all of the parks within the Township. If you need assistance, our park staff is there to serve you!
Park Shelter Reservations
The recreation department is accepting park and shelter reservations for the upcoming season (April - September). Thinking about planning a reunion, business picnic, or get together with family and friends? Why not choose a shelter in one of our beautiful parks. Each park offers unique features and facilities. Rental fees generally range from $40 - $100, depending on size and type of shelter. To find out more about shelter availability and amenities, please phone 734/544-3800. Park and shelter rental application forms are available at the community center, residential services office (in Ford Lake Park), and at the gate houses when staffed.

- Applicants must provide proof of residency in Ypsilanti Township/City in order to receive the resident discount rate.
- Organization/Corporate rentals also include volleyball court and horseshoe pit located by shelter building. (volleyballs & horseshoes not included)
Park Rules...
To ensure the enjoyment and safety of all of our park users, we ask that you follow these park rules:
- Park hours are dawn to dusk.
- No refunds given for daily or seasonal passes.
- Pets are allowed on a leash only.
- Pet owners must clean up after their pets.
- Swimming & wading is not allowed off of the shores of Ford Lake. The Lake has sharp drop-offs and strong currents, which can be dangerous.
- Possession & consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in all parks and township properties.
- Hunting is not allowed in any park.
- Fireworks and firearms of any kind are not allowed in any park.
- Fires are to be built in grills only.
- Camping in any park is prohibited.
- Defacing or removal of park property (including wildlife, plant or animal) is prohibited.
- Jet ski's must be off of the water one hour prior to sunset.
- Two jet ski maximum per vehicle.

Ypsilanti Township Residents receive an "Instant Rebate" on one Annual Season Park Pass per household
Each Ypsilanti Township household is entitled to one "instant rebate" for an annual park pass. To receive your Township rebate, simply stop by the gatehouse at either Ford Lake, Loonfeather Point, North Bay or North HydroParks and fill out an application form (May - September).
The Park Attendant will verify that the driver of the car (A) is the owner of the vehicle, and (B) is a licensed in Ypsilanti Township (driver's license and vehicle registration required). The Park Attendant will issue a season pass by affixing it to the inside of the windshield. Season passes allow entrance to all gated parks.
